The event is held every year at Homestead Golf and Country Club in Lynden Washington.

 HOW TO GET INVOLVED

The day begins with a 36-team Texas Scramble golf tournament with prizes given out to the top four placing teams, and then followed by dinner and a silent & live auction.  Please feel free to print and fill out a sponsorship sign-up sheet, which are available under Sponsorships. The Tony Wilson Kickoff Classic welcomes you to come and be a part of this worthwile event.

DINNER AND AUCTION

Tony Wilson, a 1999 graduate of Lynden High School, was actively involved in sports as a basketball and football standout.

 About Tony Wilson

Tony was the starting quarterback on the 1998 Lynden HS football team, which reached the class 3A state semi-finals. Tony also was the first and only true freshman quarterback to play in a collegiate game for Western Washington University Hall of Fame football coach Rob Smith. Throughout his college days at WWU, he stayed close to the Lynden football program, while volunteering for two years as an assistant to coach Curt Kramme. He additionally served as assistant basketball coach at Meridian HS.

Following his graduation from Western Washington University, Tony began his career as a financial planner at Merrill Lynch. During his first year in the business world, he started realizing his passion for giving back to his community. Tony donated his time as a board member for the Lynden Pioneer Museum and was a member of the Masons.

In 2007, Tony began working on creating a benefit golf tournament that would help support the Lynden High School Football team. On July 12, 2007 approximately one month before the inaugural tournament, Tony tragically passed away. Tony’s close friends and family made sure to follow through and make his vision become reality. The tournament was renamed in his honor and the First Annual Tony Wilson Memorial Golf Tournament was deemed a huge success. Tony’s friends and family, along with businesses throughout the US, contributed to the tournament by getting involved as tournament volunteers, players and sponsors.

Through this annual tournament, Tony Wilson will continue to give back to the community for years to come.
